B.R. Kreider & Son, Inc. Announces Leadership Transition

Manheim, PA – B.R. Kreider & Son, Inc., a family-owned excavating, paving and site management company founded in 1936 and based in Manheim, PA, recently announced plans for a transition in leadership of the company slated for January, 2015.

As part of the transition, Brent Kreider, current Vice President of Sales, will assume the role as President of the family firm and its subsidiary, Pin Oak Service Center. A member of the fourth generation of family ownership, along with Heidi Hollinger and Courtney Dougherty, Kreider takes over for Michael Fecik, who has served as President and Chief Financial Officer since 2005. Fecik, who also prepared the fourth generation of the Kreider family for leadership in the company, will remain with B.R. Kreider & Son, Inc. as Executive Vice President and member of the executive management team in addition to his current role as CFO.

“Michael was critical to the success of the transition in family leadership and unselfishly worked with me for this moment,” said Kreider. “He is a family friend and mentor and his continuing presence will benefit our company. Michael steered us through some tough economic times and helped us accomplish a smooth transition.”

“When Brent, Heidi and Courtney assumed 100% ownership of the company in 2009 as the fourth generation of Kreider family ownership, the transition plan was already in place to prepare them for the roles they would one day move into” said Fecik. “It continues the legacy of the Kreider family making sure the next generation is ready to lead and grow the company for the benefit of our customers and our employees.”

As part of the transition to the fourth generation leadership, Ken Kreider, past President and Chief Executive Officer will officially retire at the end of 2014 after 47 years serving the company.

Also at the end of 2014, Jim Kreider, current Vice President, and Carol Buchen, Marketing, will transition into part-time roles. The third-generation, consisting of Ken and Jim Kreider, and their sister, Carol Buchen, will continue to serve as advisors on the B.R. Kreider & Son, Inc. Board of Directors.

“The example and leadership displayed by each generation continues to be invaluable for the future of our company,” said Brent Kreider. “Heidi, Courtney and I are thankful for the lessons we have learned and continue to learn from them and we are excited about the opportunity to continue to serve our customers and our business in the coming years.”
